Hi, weβre tekFinder.
We connect visionary companies with tech talent thatβs shaping our future.
We're a senior group of recruitment professionals with a strong focus on software engineering, data engineering, AI, product and technology.
We're thorough, we care about what we do, and we've built strong networks across Australia.
In the early days, technologies like JavaScript, React and UI design kept us busy.
These days, our focus has shifted to more backend systems like Java, AWS, GCP as well as Data Platforms like Palantir, Databricks, Snowflake and AWS Bedrock.
This is helping our clients embrace AI, building genuinely data-driven teams and future-proofing them.
We're not just filling roles - we're partnering closely with hiring managers and talent acquisition teams, helping them solve hard technical hiring problems backed by real depth in the technologies we specialise in.
And yeah - we say we're different, but we can back it up. Check out how weβre supporting small charities across the country with our NFP partner - tekFoundation here.

The Back Story
tekFinder started in 2018 on a sofa in Bellevue Hill, Sydney. Nick Shepherd, our founder, began his recruitment career in the UK before moving to Australia in 2011. Seeing how transactional and metric-driven recruitment could be, Nick was compelled to do things differently - to build a recruitment business thatβs less corporate, less βsalesy,β and more personal.
Nick set out to create a team-focused culture: a place where candidates and clients feel comfortable and valued throughout the hiring process. Today, the tekFinder team is recognised and respected for its highly personalised, efficient, and successful approach to finding the right talent and adding value every step of the way.
Embedding Purpose
In 2023 Nick noticed a pressing issue with charities and their tech - theyβre working tirelessly to support vulnerable communities, but are often held back by outdated systems and limited resources.
Seeing this, Nick launched tekFoundation to apply his recruitment expertise towards connecting skilled tech volunteers with charities.
Leveraging profits from recruitment fees, he brought on co-founder Joni Fleischer to head up tekFoundation and since then theyβve partnered with over 50 charities around Australia to help them find tech volunteers (all at no charge).
