Counter offers
If you’re a software engineer (or work in tech) and are presented with 2 job offers at once and dont know which one to take, think about a few things..
My opinion is to take the money away from them, especially if its a counter-offer from your current place. Take the money and what are you left with?
Which role is going to put you out of your comfort zone?
Which opportunity has better potential mentors for you?
Which company will actually support learning, help you grow and become a better communicator?
Which opportunity will have actual measurable OKRs, set out by your manager, for both your performance at work and personally to achieve your bonus/goals/promotion?
Which company will promote trialling/bringing in new tech for you to work with?
Accepting a counter-offer or different offer, because its $10k or $15k more, isn’t going to motivate you to get out of bed after 6 months of working there, especially when you realise the difference isn’t all that great after tax.
